ACHD & BSU Agreed in July to Roadway Plan Without Neighborhood Testimony

ACHD & BSU Agreed to Roadway Plan Without Neighborhood Involvement or Testimony Since 2015: July 2019 ACHD Testimony & Agreement

Planning to include restricting University Drive.

ACHD agreed to the plan in part because Boise State assumes all costs. One ACHD Commissioner Lamented the Lack of a Nighttime Public Hearing on the Decision (see video linked below).

Any future neighborhood engagement, if any, would be with BSU, not ACHD.

Possible Regulations for Short-Term Rentals

Proposed Ordinance for Short-Term Rentals (Airbnb’s etc.): City Provides Survey on the Matter

Mayor Bieter is recommending ordinances for short term rentals like Airbnb’s, to apply to rentals less than 30 days long and requiring owner occupation of the property. He says the change would help housing availability and pricing. Click here for a news item about it.

Reasons: rentals could affect neighborhood noise, traffic, and erode long-term renting or home-ownership. There would be four amendments to (1) require the owner to live on the property, (2) short-term rental approvals by the city, (3) no more than one rental unit allowed on the property, and (4) compliance with development code standards such as parking and noise.

Citizen’s thoughts on the proposed policies are requested by clicking here for the City’s online survey. Comments for readers of this web site can be added below.
